Looking for an Alternative to Long Renovation Wait Times? We Have a Solution...

If your rental property is in need of a renovation, you've no doubt been discouraged by nightmare stories or experiences of delayed wait times due to the virus' impact on the supply chain. Believe me, I feel you. We are planning a home build in Montana, and hoping we are not too old to move into it by the time materials land and the job gets done! Oi!

In the meantime, there are a few things you can do to update your space while you wait for the proverbial smoke to clear. Here are three ideas:

1. Embrace the Power in a Fresh Coat of Paint

Never underestimate the power of a paintbrush. This may seem like a no-brainer, but it truly is amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do! If you need something more than a flat wall of color to make it feel special, try a subtle stripe pattern. If you were to take a fan deck of paint chips and choose your favorite color, pick another color a shade or two lighter or darker on the same card. You'll be amazed at how beautifully the two will interact together and create interest, wallpaper-free!

Paint can refresh a tired-looking space, add joyful energy, and freshen the whole outlook of a room!

2. Illuminate Any Room with New Lighting & Hardware

Old lighting and hardware can really date a property with fading finishes and tired style. Look for fixtures that make use of the most current technology to provide savings in energy bills and allow for smart controls. Find hardware and lighting pieces that both compliment the style of the home and bring it into the 21st century. "Light and bright" will go a long way until you can tackle that renovation!

3. Transform the Space with New Furniture & Window Treatments

Speaking of "light and bright," maybe it's time to give those windows some love. It's hard to overstate the impact new window treatments can have on a space! They can lift the eye up, frame a view (or screen it, if necessary!), and bring cohesion to a space by reinforcing your color palette. Take down those old, dusty draperies and give your windows a breath of fresh style!

If furniture lead times are getting you down, why not think about reupholstering the pieces you already have? Custom slip-covers would also be a great and economical option and make a huge difference in how your living spaces feel while you endure the long wait for new pieces to arrive!

Because redecorating is such an investment in both time and money, I always advise clients to wait to move forward until they have a full-fledged design plan in place so that all their updates work together seamlessly within the home.
