5 Inviting Chaises and Loungers to Help You Create a Cozy Space in Your Home
When I see a chaise it makes me think of the golden era of Hollywood when glamorous actresses would touch their forehead with the back of their hand and melodramatically collapse onto the waiting lounge. Actually "fainting couches" harken back to the Victorian era when women routinely fainted because their corsets were too tight! They even had fainting rooms where said fainting couches were located! One wonders what the poor woman would do when hit with a spell in an undesignated space!
Chaises, daybeds, and settees in these wonderfully corset-liberated times are fantastic pieces to invite relaxation for anyone, glamourous or not, and are appropriate in any room, indoors or out. They add an element of stylish luxury to every space.
Here are five of my personal favorites for lounging, reading, or taking in one of those classic black and white films :)
Chloe Media Lounger
This is not your grandfather's recliner! This lounger is meant to be shared. With popcorn. With lots of room to stretch out and get cozy, this piece gets points for it's contemporary shape and styling. I would love to see a media room with three or four of these babies instead of the traditional rows of theater seating! Barcalounger, be gone.
Deandra Tete A Tete Chaise
Not all chaises are meant for ... um ... fainting. This piece wants to come to the party! Imagine comfortably holding a conversation with someone seated right next to you on the same couch!
This piece is inspired by modern European style and is upholstered in merino cotton that meets high traffic criteria in performance! It will not only repel the likes of a certain beverage that may or may not be red, but is also soft and comforting to the touch. A rich base of Rosa Morada wood frames the entire piece.
Elevate your next soiree with this chaise in your gathering space!
Edge Armless Chaise
Sharing is optional with this chaise, born and bred for a quiet moment (or a nap!). Elegant finishes of Satin Ebony and Whisper of Gold at its feet prop up a complex neutral color palette of greys, slate, and taupe to create an effect that's neither too warm nor too cold, too formal nor too casual. A tailored beauty that can add distinctive style and sumptuous comfort to any space.
Hudson Chaise
How do you spell SLEEK? This piece spells it out purr-fectly!
An undulating silhouette features box-pleated bouclé upholstery in pale taupe. From behind you are greeted with a back of light grey leather, and the rich espresso-finished wood frame is exposed to highlight the chaise's delicious curvilinear shape. Polished nickel ferrules tip the classic saber-shaped legs, and are echoed in nailheads along the wood trim. I love how the upholstered foot end goes all the way down to the floor. Just. Yum.
Suddenly ... I'm feeling very faint ...
Adele Blush Velvet Chaise
May I introduce you to Adele? Don't worry, she always blushes - in velvet! She is also available in a plush slub grey!
I guess you can see I enjoy curves in my chaises! These are subtle and elegant, making it easy to glide into seamless relaxation. With a sloping silhouette, neutral colors, and matte gold base, Adele will blend into any decor.
Wouldn't you love a new bff like this one to share some quiet time - and look darn good doing it?
Incorporating a beautiful daybed, chaise, or lounger into a room is an easy way to inject unique style and coziness. They can easily warm up a vacant corner of a room or sit center stage, and inspire serene alone-time or great conversation!
Whether casual or high-style, a chaise brings luxury into every space it is introduced. Any way you slice it, adding one to your decor will amplify the enjoyment factor!
… Just ditch the corset.
